Invitation Letter to

International Conference on Universal Village 2016 (UV2016)

We are writing to invite you to attend the second International Conference on Universal Village (UV2016) and its exhibition hosted at Nagoya, Japan on October 6th-8th 2016.

Universal Village (UV) is a new concept proposed by MIT Universal Village Program. The concept exemplifies a desired future society that protects environment/eco-system and addresses human needs in order to provide sustainable happiness to residents of the society. It is an expanded and advanced version of Smart Cities which pursues human-nature harmony through wise use of technologies. The concept comes from the belief that we should follow the law of universe and understand humans' need in depth while pursuing intelligent technologies to improve the comfort, convenience, and efficiency for human beings.  Otherwise, our mother nature suffers and we human suffer eventually.

While there have been efforts trying to address challenges to humanity up now, most are still in the phase of element-based technologies. The whole living environment lacks coordinated and systematic design and runs into new challenges including new security/safety/privacy concerns, environmental and sustainability problems. The world-wide trend of urbanization somehow follows the path of US development and standard of US life styles. The so-called “modern life style” revolves around vehicles and consumption of nature resources faster than the rest of world. Instead of passively responding to different emerging problems with temporary solutions, people in different fields should work together to find a systematic long-term solution for future.

UV2016 is calling for a collective effort from multidisciplinary fields and new innovative technologies that would change our lives and improve the human-nature harmony in the long run. UV2016 will have multiple special sessions to cover different aspects of new technologies for future life.  The sessions will convey the following themes:

--  Environmentally friendly new energy: solar power/bio-energy/supergrid/wireless charging
--  Environmentally friendly new materials: pesticides/fertilizers/etc. without chemical contamination, and resolvable utensils/tools/etc. without extra burden for garbage
disposal
--  New life styles on transportation, healthcare, city management, etc.
--  Integrated solutions on urgent and long-tern challenges on safety, security, privacy, climate changes, etc.

More details can be found in the call-for-papers and list of special sessions at our website (http://universal-village.org). You are welcomed to attend UV2016 forum and exhibition, to present your research results, technologies and products, and to discuss the development of technologies that would change the future for humankind. We are looking forward to your involvement and your support.

Sincerely,
